Hartsville Police Department to host informal “Coffee with a Cop” meeting Oct. 19

Officers of the Hartsville Police Department will sit down for community discussions and coffee with local residents in an informal, neutral space Monday, Oct. 19 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Shoney’s Restaurant, 905 S. Fifth St. in Hartsville.

City of Hartsville names Jerry Thompson as Hartsville Police Chief

The City of Hartsville has named Jerry Thompson as the Hartsville Police Department’s new chief. A veteran law enforcement officer, Thompson has served the department as Acting Chief since January, when he stepped in to fill the position of outgoing Chief James Hudson.

Police Chief James Hudson accepts new position

Police Chief James Hudson has accepted a leadership position with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, and Jerry Thompson, Chief Deputy for the Sheriff’s Office, has accepted the position of Acting Police Chief following Hudson’s departure.
