Screen on the Green, the City of Hartsville’s free series of summertime movies, will present “The Secret Life of Pets,” sponsored by the Sandy Memorial Animal Hospital, on Saturday, June 24. The screening will take place in Burry Park, 131 Cargill Way.
This event will be a Bark in the Park event allowing for dogs to join in the fun. Any canine viewers must be leashed at all times. Donations in support of the Hartsville Dog Park will be accepted by City staff during this event.
“The Secret Life of Pets” follows the story of Max, a spoiled terrier who enjoys a comfortable life in a New York building until his owner adopts Duke, a giant and unruly canine. During their walk outside, they encounter a group of ferocious alley cats and wind up in a truck that’s bound for the pound. There at the pound the two meet a rebellious bunny named Snowball, saving the doggy duo from captivity. In exchange, Snowball demands that Max and Duke join his gang of abandoned pets on a mission against their previous owners who have wronged them. The movie is rated PG for some action and rude humor.
The showing begins at dusk, 9:06 p.m. or later. Viewers are welcome to bring chairs and blankets if desired. In the event of rain, the showing will relocate to the Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center at Byerly Park, located at 701 W. Washington St. in Hartsville.
“We are excited to partner with the City of Hartsville for this event,” says Dr. Nicki Taylor of Sandy Memorial Animal Hospital, “This film is a cute family movie that takes a fun look at the world my staff and I dedicate our lives to.” Sandy Memorial Animal Hospital staff will be giving away door prizes for canines in attendance.

- July 8 – “The BFG” sponsored by Carolina Bank
- July 22 – “Finding Dory” sponsored by North Industrial Machine
