2018 Screen on the Green season begins with Top Gun, sponsored by North Industrial Machine

WHEN: Saturday, May 26, dusk (8:52 p.m. or later)

Hartsville, SC – Screen on the Green, the City of Hartsville’s free series of summertime movies, will launch Saturday, May 26 with a showing of Top Gun, sponsored by North Industrial Machine, in Burry Park, 131 Cargill Way.

Top Gun is the story of students at the United States Navy’s elite fighter weapons school. As they compete to be best in the class, one daring young pilot learns a few things from a civilian instructor that are not taught in the classroom. The film is rated PG for thematic intensity and mild sexuality and peril.

The showing begins at dusk, 8:52 p.m. or later. Moviegoers are welcome to bring chairs and blankets. In the event of rain, the showing will relocate to the Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center at Byerly Park, found at 701 W Washington St in Hartsville.

Following the kickoff event, Screen on the Green will continue the rest of the summer with the following schedule:

  • June 9 – Moana sponsored by Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center
  • June 23 – Hidden Figures sponsored by The Children’s Group
  • July 14 – Despicable Me 3 sponsored by Darlington Raceway
  • July 28 – Jumanji (2017) sponsored by Darlington County Sheriff’s Department and Darlington County Fire Department
  • August 11 – Guardians of the Galaxy sponsored by Hartsville Police Department and Fire Department (Heroes Night Out special showing)
