Hartsville youth can engage with Clemson University’s 4-H program to learn leadership, citizenship, and life skills. This program, sponsored by City of Hartsville Parks and Recreation, uses a learn-by-doing approach to empower Hartsville youth to become healthy, productive, and contributing members of society. Classes will begin March 15 and will continue every Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the TB Thomas Sports Center located at 701 W. Washington St.
With a membership rate of $10, Hartsville youth can enjoy programs such as bee keeping, making solar ovens, cooking from scratch, and more. Participants between the ages of 5 and 19 can join the program at any time. Hartsville youth will also learn that 4-H represents the 4-H’s:
- Head – making sound decisions
- Heart – acting with integrity
- Hands – serving others in the community
- Health – eating right and exercising
4-H is the youth development program of the Cooperative Extension Service, a nationwide partnership of federal, state and county governments, and the private sector. The Clemson University Cooperative Extension service offers its programs to people of all ages, regardless of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital or family status and is an equal opportunity employer.
