The EMPOWER initiative (Employing Ministry and Police to Overcome Walls and End Racism) will continue efforts to improve the community in the Historic Butler District. A fourth residence, located at 324 Lincoln Avenue, will receive landscaping and minor exterior repairs on Aug. 19, beginning at 9 a.m.
Founded in the fall of 2016, this partnership between the Ministerial Alliance, the Community Outreach Division of the Hartsville Police Department, and the City of Hartsville, works to make positive impacts in the area.
“This program is a true collaboration between the City, Faith-based Community, Nonprofits and neighbors,” says City Manager, Natalie M. Zeigler, “It is powerful to see our youth and police working side-by-side to all tackle the same issue, which I invite all community members to participate in helping us grow the program.”
Pastor Christopher Morgan, head of the Ministerial Alliance, will be coordinating clergy and congregation members. This work-day has been made possible by support from Darlington County Habitat for Humanity, who donated materials and labor for the home repair through their Byerly Foundation-funded Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative.
