On Saturday, May 5th, at West Hartsville Baptist Church (1003 West Carolina Ave.) at 7 p.m. the Hartsville Community Chorus will present their spring concert, the exciting oratorio “Elijah,” by Mendelssohn. The HCC, directed by Dr. James Beaumier, will be joined by Hartsville High School Choirs and the Long Bay Symphony. “Elijah” is a romantic era favorite telling the dramatic story of the old testament prophet Elijah. The concert will feature Hartsville High School Senior, Archie Torain singing the part of Elijah. Mr. Torain is a three-year All-State member, has been a winner of state-wide singing competitions and has competed at the Regional and National levels. He plans to attend the University of South Carolina and study with Jacob Will, Chair of the Voice Department and also a Hartsville native.
