Moment with the Manager: A Year of Overcoming and Preparing for Obstacles

The year 2020 has been one that even the most prepared people likely were not ready for.  As city officials, we often take classes on how to prepare for disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and other natural happenings. There is no course, book, or teacher that could prepare us for everything that 2020 has had in store. There is no map or trajectory to follow that has told us what to expect next with COVID-19 other than listening to […]

Happy 4th of July from the Hartsville Police Department!  We hope everyone has a great time this weekend celebrating our independence with family and friends.  Celebrations involve good food off the grill, maybe fireworks as soon as it turns dark, and sometimes alcohol.  Too often, our celebrations turn into tragedy when someone decides to drink and drive.  The 4th of July is considered one of the deadliest holidays due to impaired drivers.  We ask that you have a designated […]

Hello Hartsville!

The first moment I set foot in Hartsville, I sensed that this place is special.

And I was right.

Today, I am thrilled to introduce myself as your new City Manager.

I grew up in Augusta, Georgia, the fourth child of an Army Colonel and stay-at-home mom. The Army was always a presence in my life.  It was on the backroads of Fort Gordon where I learned to drive in my father’s old Datsun, passing grenade and artillery ranges along the […]
