A Moment with the Manager – Fiscal Year 2016-17 Proposed General Fund Budget

City staff is in preparation of this coming fiscal year’s budget proposal for City Council to review in May. This fiscal year, the City of Hartsville has a proposed budget that residents should be proud of. This fiscal year’s budget proposal brings a tax decrease due to a projected surplus of the budget. After being proposed, City Council will make possible amendments to it and choose whether or not to adopt the budget.

Great American Cleanup 2016

Hartsville residents are invited to spend a Saturday morning making the city’s neighborhoods a better place by volunteering for the Great American Cleanup, taking place April 30 and leaving from Pride Park, 630 S. Sixth St, at 8:30 a.m.

Mosquito Trapping Has Started

The City of Hartsville Streets and Grounds workers have begun setting traps for mosquitoes. This is part of effort by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control to collect samples for testing of the Zika virus. The City will be setting these traps and collecting data through November. They will also continue to look at best practices for the area in regards to mosquito control.

Jonathan Green Lecture and Reception on American and African American Southern Culture, History, and Traditions

Nationally acclaimed and awarded professional artist, Jonathan Green will be presenting a lecture entitled “The Use of Fine Art in Capturing the Positive Aspects of American and African American Southern Culture, History, and Traditions”. The lecture, co-hosted by Butler Heritage Foundation and the City of Hartsville, will be held at Butler Community Center located at 1103 South Sixth Street.
