Recyclers of the Month – April 2015

Tiffany and Ford Wallace are the City of Hartsville’s Recyclers of the Month for April 2015.

Tiffany said much of what the family throws out, such as bottles and shipping boxes, goes into recycling. She has long been a recycler, she said, and has taught her son to be one as well.

“I’ve always felt it was important,” she said. “It’s just as easy to throw items in recycling.”

Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Day in the City of Hartsville

April 19, 2015 has been declared Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) Day in the City of Hartsville by proclamation of Mayor Mel Pennington. On April 16, Pennington presented the City of Hartsville proclamation to CDH awareness advocates Kristin and Andy Dampier, who lost their daughter Kaegan Dampier, born with CDH, in November 2014.

Child Abuse Prevention Month in the City of Hartsville

A proclamation issued by Mayor Mel Pennington during the Hartsville City Council meeting on April 14 declared April 2015 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the City of Hartsville. Pennington presented the proclamation to Casey Copeland, an advocate in community-building organizations including OneHartsville, as well as Ronald Krein, Director of the Darlington County Department of Social Services.
