Hartsville residents invited to have Coffee with a Cop

On Tues. Feb. 27, officers from the Hartsville Police Department and community members will come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee.  Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in Hartsville as well as express their concerns.

Carolina Thunder makes Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center location of season home games

Fans of the East Coast Basketball League team, Carolina Thunder, can now cheer on the team to victory at the Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center, located at 701 W. Washington St. in Hartsville.  The team will host a scrimmage as their season opener on Sat., Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. at the center.

Numbers do not often lie, but they can be misleading when cited out of context. For a city the size of Hartsville, statistics can be interpreted in a way that doesn’t really give an accurate picture of all that makes this municipality a safe place to work, play and stay. Hartsville Museum’s newest exhibit celebrates Black History Month

Beginning Feb. 1, the newest exhibit at the Hartsville Museum will celebrate Black History Month. The museum’s permanent collection of Black Heritage Stamps and other postal memorabilia will be on display in the W. Reaves McCall Gallery until Feb. 28.

Hartsville Police Department hires DUI Officer to continue impaired driving countermeasures

The Hartsville Police Department has hired Justin Reichard as its grant funded, DUI Officer, to continue the department’s efforts with impaired driving countermeasures.

In the fall of 2017, the department was awarded a 2018 Highway Safety grant from the S.C. Department of Public Safety for efforts to decrease impaired driving within Hartsville’s jurisdiction. The grant program allows for one year of funding for the officer as well as police vehicle equipment.

City of Hartsville reaches two milestones with waterpark expansion project

The City of Hartsville has reached two significant milestones with the waterpark expansion project with the naming of the waterpark and hiring a manager of Hartsville’s newest attraction.

Visitors to the City of Hartsville’s latest project will know the attraction as “Neptune Island”.  Opening this summer, visitors of all ages will take part in a tropical island adventure in the progressive small-town.
