City or Hartsville honors South Carolina’s Arbor Day with new tree planting at Byerly Park

Members of Hartsville City Council and City staff observed the City of Hartsville’s Arbor Day on Dec. 19, 2017 with the planting of a new Overcup Oak tree at Byerly Park.

Members of Hartsville City Council thanked the Public Service and Parks and Recreation department for their efforts of developing and maintaining Hartsville’s trees. City Arborist, Stephen Wild, presented information on Hartsville’s tree population as well as South Carolina’s Arbor Day to those in attendance.

Annual Hartsville Christmas Parade tradition continues

One of the most well-kept holiday traditions in the Hartsville community is the Hartsville Christmas Parade. The 2017 parade, sponsored by Sonoco, SPC Credit Union, and North Industrial Machine, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 9 as a part of the Hartsville for the Holidays season.

Hartsville Fire Department accepting donations for Boots and Buckets for Kids annual program

Hartsville Fire Department is now accepting donations for its Boots and Buckets for Kids annual program, which assists Hartsville families with gifts for their children.

Hartsville’s firefighters will collect donations beginning 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24 on Hartsville Crossing Boulevard, both at the intersection of South Fourth Street, near the Walmart Supercenter, as well as the intersection of South Fifth Street. The firefighters will be accepting monetary donations only.
