Russell Slatton named Director of Public Services for the City of Hartsville

Russell Slatton has been named Director of Public Services for the City of Hartsville. Slatton accepted his position in March 2017. He hails from Taylors, S.C. and has served 27 years in the Navy.  Slatton holds a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Workforce Education and Management from Southern Illinois University.

Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center to be home court of Florence Wildcats in partnership with City of Hartsville Parks and Recreation

In partnership with the City of Hartsville Parks and Recreation department, the semi-pro basketball team, the Florence Wildcats have chosen Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center in Hartsville as their home court for this season. The Florence Wildcats home opener is set for Saturday, May 13 beginning at 5 p.m. The Wildcats will face the Petersburg Cavaliers of Petersburg, Virginia. The Wildcats open the home stretch at 2-3, while Petersburg comes to town 4-3.

Karen Caulder named Finance Director for the City of Hartsville

Karen Caulder has been named Finance Director for the City of Hartsville. Caulder accepted her position in March 2017. She will serve as the chief financial advisor to the City Manager, overseeing finances of major upcoming City projects and investments. Caulder’s job responsibilities include overseeing the preparation and execution of the City-wide budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Recycler of the Month – March 2017

James and Sandra Thomas were named the City of Hartsville’s Recyclers of the Month for March 2017. As the Recyclers of the Month, the couple received a yard sign as well as a Main Street Hartsville downtown gift certificate.

Great American Cleanup returns April 29

Hartsville residents are invited to spend a Saturday morning improving the city’s neighborhoods and streets by volunteering for the Great American Cleanup, on April 29.

This 15th annual event, sponsored by the City of Hartsville and Keep Darlington County Beautiful, is an opportunity for volunteers to clear away trash and debris from road right-of-ways in neighborhoods of their choosing.
