The Hartsville Police Department will be participating in the 2020 Thanksgiving Holiday Campaign administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  The campaign will run from November 25th – 29th and will focus on the aggressive enforcement of impaired drivers.  According to NHTSA, from 2013 to 2017, more than 800 people died in alcohol impaired driving crashes during the Thanksgiving holiday period, making it one of the deadliest holidays on our roadways.

The Hartsville Police Department’s Investigation Division hosted a flag and flagpole dedication ceremony on June 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. City staff and special guests attended the ceremony which was followed by an open house and tour of the newly renovated Investigation Division located at 626 North Fifth Street, Hartsville. The Hartsville Police DUI grant has reached its halfway point for the 2019/2020 grant period.  Although the pandemic has slowed our proactive efforts, we want to remind all drivers that the DUI officer is still working peak DUI offense hours and will continue to seek out impaired drivers.  The DUI officer, along with all HPD officers, have continued to work very hard to keep the streets of Hartsville safe. The Hartsville Police Department (HPD), South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS), and law enforcement partners statewide will conduct stringent enforcement of impaired driving laws as part of its Sober or Slammer! campaign beginning December 13, 2019 through January 1, 2020. HPD is encouraging drivers to make a plan now for a safe ride home from parties and celebrations this holiday season.
