The closure of a portion of East Carolina Avenue for sanitary sewer improvements has been postponed until Monday, Jan. 19, and is expected to last for at least three days. The work, which was originally planned for Jan. 12 through 14, has been rescheduled because of a forecast of rain and potential freezing rain.
During the closure, workers will install a new manhole for maintenance access as well as a new sewer line for the Mantissa Executive Suites and Spa. East Carolina Avenue will close from its intersection with Fifth Street/U.S. Highway 15 through the entrance of the public parking lot between the Hartsville Family YMCA and Bizzell’s Food & Spirits. The public parking lot will remain open during the work, as will the portion of the East Carolina Avenue block closest to Fourth Street. The street closure is now planned to begin early on the morning of Monday, Jan. 19 and last through at least Wednesday, Jan. 21.
