Great American Cleanup 2017
April 29, 2017 @ 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Hartsville residents are invited to spend a Saturday morning improving the city’s neighborhoods and streets by volunteering for the Great American Cleanup, on April 29.
This 15th annual event, sponsored by the City of Hartsville and Keep Darlington County Beautiful, is an opportunity for volunteers to clear away trash and debris from road right-of-ways in neighborhoods of their choosing. Last year, Hartsville’s Great American Cleanup brought together 20 volunteers to collect 7.21 tons of litter and debris, beautifying an estimated 6.5 miles of Hartsville streets.
This event is further continuation of the City and community’s dedicated beautification efforts. Other beautification efforts have been underway with the EMPOWER (Employing Ministry and Police to Overcome Walls and End Racism) initiative.
Participating volunteers will be provided with safety vests, gloves and bags. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Pride Park, 630 S. Sixth St., and volunteers move out to their chosen areas beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event will end with a volunteer lunch provided at Pride Park around noon.
Those interested in volunteering for the Great American Cleanup can register online. For questions, contact Brenda Kelley at brenda.kelley@hartsvillesc.gov or 843.383.3009.
