The Hartsville Regional Airport will host the annual Hartsville Flight Fest this weekend, April 5-6, 2019. The event begins on Friday night, April 5th with a showing of Planes on the runway beginning at 7:45 p.m. Pizza will be provided for the movie while supplies last. The weekend event will continue on Saturday, April 6th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with events including a Young Eagles Day, Story Time, and Crafts in the Hanger for those in attendance. There will also be speakers talking to attendees about careers in aviation. One of the event organizers, Sandi Hemmingsen, said, “This event is a great opportunity for folks of all ages to enjoy aviation related activities, learn about aviation, and for kids ages 8-17 with parent/guardian signed permission, to see their world from a whole new perspective. To kick it all off, the movie we’re showing Friday evening, Planes, is a really fun and inspirational “you can be what you dream to be” movie.”
Kids ages 8-17 years old will have the opportunity to take a free flight around Hartsville with signed permission from a parent or guardian. This opportunity is provided by the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1058. They will also be offering a promotional code to be a student member of the EAA, which opens up a free opportunity for online ground school course for the private pilot written exam. This entire event is made possible by the Hartsville Regional Airport, Alleyway Printing, Burry Bookstore, and West Propane.
