Around the Hartsville area last year, 105 families facing difficulty providing Christmas gifts for their children received some help from the Hartsville Fire Department’s Boots and Buckets fundraiser, bringing a brighter holiday season to 215 children. Now, Hartsville shoppers will get another opportunity to contribute to this powerful community effort, as the Fire Department brings back the annual program the day after Thanksgiving.
Hartsville’s firefighters will collect donations beginning 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27 on Hartsville Crossing Boulevard, both at the intersection of South Fourth Street, near the Walmart Supercenter, as well as the intersection of South Fifth Street, opposite the Foxes Corner gas station. The firefighters will accept money donations as well as new, unwrapped toys suitable for children ages 10 and younger.
Afterward, the Fire Department will continue to accept donations at its location at 111 S. Seventh St. through Dec. 19. Monetary donations may also be mailed to the Hartsville Fire Department, c/o Larry Bess, 111 S. Seventh St., Hartsville, SC 29550.
For families interested in Christmas gift assistance through the Boots and Buckets program, applications are accepted at the Hartsville Fire Department through Monday Dec. 7. To learn more, contact Larry Bess at the Fire Department, 843.383.3000.
