The Hartsville Police Department invites residents out for a celebration of community heroes, with plenty of fun family activities. Hartsville’s 2016 National Night Out will feature an evening full of free activities, free food, and a free movie showing of “Zootopia”. The event will begin Saturday, August 13th at 6:30 p.m. in Burry Park at 131 Cargill Way in Hartsville.
The evening’s activities will include musical hits for the whole family provided by DJ Rome, face painting, bubble fun provided by the Hartsville Bubble Guy, and free hotdogs. Nachos, snow cones, and sweets by SugarRush will be available for purchase. There will be a meet and greet with local first responders including the Hartsville Police Department, Hartsville Fire Department, Darlington County EMS, and Darlington County Sherriff’s Department. CareSouth will be on site performing blood pressure and BMI screenings as well as providing information on SNAP, CHIP, Medicare, and Medicaid. The Department of Natural Resource will also be present with their outdoor education trailer. Coker College will also be setting up an information booth.
National Night Out will be followed by the last of this season’s Screen on the Green free movie showings in Burry Park, featuring “Zootopia,” sponsored by the Hartsville Fire and Police Departments and rated PG. The showing will begin at dusk, 8:36 p.m. or later. Moviegoers are invited to bring blankets and chairs for the movie showing. In case of rain, the movie will be moved to the Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center at Byerly Park, located at 701 W. Washington St.
