The Hartsville Police Department will be participating in Operation Southern Shield beginning today, July 15th. The operation will run through July 20th and focus on the heavier summertime travel period when the fatality and injury crash rates increase significantly in the southeast. Enforcement will consist of RADAR/LIDAR use and the use of public safety checkpoints.
As always, the DUI grant officer will be working the peak hours of DUI and traffic violations during this campaign. In addition to South Carolina, law enforcement in the states of Tennessee, Alabama, Florida and Georgia will also be participating in this campaign. The Hartsville Police Department wants everyone to have a safe and enjoyable summer break. We will continue to do everything we can to make the streets of Hartsville safe for our residents and visitors.
