The end of summer may be close at hand, but the City of Hartsville’s Screen on the Green series still has one last free movie to show. “Planes: Fire and Rescue,” will be flying into Burry Park on a new date, Saturday, Aug. 15 and beginning at dusk, 8:30 p.m. or later. The showing is sponsored by the Hartsville Police Department and Hartsville Fire Department, who will bring emergency vehicles onsite and have safety information to distribute for children.
An animated Walt Disney Pictures film from the same universe of the “Cars” series, “Planes: Fire and Rescue” follows the single-prop plane Dusty Crophopper (Dane Cook) as he faces the end of his racing career brought on by a worn-out engine. After a disastrous fire at his home airport, he decides to become a firefighting plane under the direction of Fire and Rescue group leader Blade Ranger (Ed Harris). As part of this crew, the Smokejumpers, Dusty learns about courage and teamwork when he is called on to fight a massive wildfire. The movie is rated PG for action and some peril.
Moviegoers are invited to bring chairs and blankets to Burry Park. In the event of rain, the showing will relocate to Byerly Park’s Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center, 701 W. Washington St. in Hartsville.
