Mary Ridgeway is the City of Hartsville’s Recycler of the Month for October 2015.
Ridgeway is a solidly enthusiastic recycler who keeps a bin in her kitchen to make sorting out items easier. She said she counts glass, aluminum cans and paper as her most commonly recycled items.
“Recycling is important and easy,” she said. “It is a difference that one person can make in their home and in public spaces to save energy. By recycling paper, aluminum cans and steel we can save trees, bauxite, water and need less landfill space. The City of Hartsville does a great job with curbside pickup, so do your part to save our earth. We are all in this together.”
As the Recycler of the Month, Ridgeway received a yard sign as well as a gift certificate to the Midnight Rooster Coffee Shop and Eatery, 136 E. Carolina Ave. in Hartsville.
The award program highlights those city residents participating in the City of Hartsville’s recycling program, a partnership between the City and Sonoco.
