Russell Slatton has been named Director of Public Services for the City of Hartsville. Slatton accepted his position in March 2017. He hails from Taylors, S.C. and has served 27 years in the Navy. Slatton holds a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Workforce Education and Management from Southern Illinois University.
Slatton will be directly responsible for the planning, directing, and coordination of the Environmental Services and Public Works. Slatton will also provide leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range plans as well as maintaining awareness of Federal and State regulations in areas that directly impact the City’s public services. The Public Service Department will be under Slatton’s supervision to ensure quality service in areas of responsibility, including waste management and utilities.
“In this position, we wanted someone with management experience,” said City Manager, Natalie M. Ziegler, “Russell has previous experience with managing people effectively with his years in the Navy in combination with his Bachelors and Masters degree and has already demonstrated this in his short time with the City.”
Slatton encourages residents to use Hartsville’s mobile app, SeeClickFix, to report non-emergency issues such as delayed trash pickup and water issues.
