Hartsville, SC: The South Carolina Department of Transportation has begun work in downtown Hartsville on Carolina Avenue from Fifth Street to SC-151.
The work will continue over the next few weeks. This is a major project that will include milling of existing asphalt and resurfacing of all lanes. In addition, the City has also partnered with SCDOT to improve the existing stormwater system in downtown Hartsville with the installation of new catch basins in key locations to alleviate flooding. The estimated completion date for the work is November 30th but that may extend to December 15th with the drainage work. These street upgrades are the culmination of hard work by the SCDOT, our Legislative Delegation, and Local Officials. When asked, Senator Malloy said, “Upgrading and maintaining our infrastructure is critical to the success of our communities. Not only will these upgrades improve the overall quality of life for our residents but will also benefit economic development and our educational facilities.” Senator Malloy also expressed appreciation to South Carolina Department of Transportation employees and the Darlington County Transportation Committee for their support in making this project happen.
